About the role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to take ownership of the APIs and services that power Jahihi's loan origination, payments and trade finance platforms. You will work across the stack that handles real money, real customer data, and real regulatory requirements — which means careful thinking and clear documentation matter as much as shipping speed.
What you will do
- Design and build backend services in Go and TypeScript on Cloudflare Workers
- Own the data model and migrations for loans, payments and trade finance in Postgres and D1
- Work with the security team to keep customer data protected and auditable
- Review code from peers and mentor mid-level engineers
- Participate in the on-call rotation for our production systems
What we are looking for
- 5+ years building production backend systems
- Strong SQL fundamentals and experience with an ORM or query builder
- Experience in at least one of Go, Rust, TypeScript/Node.js at a production level
- Comfortable with CI/CD, containerisation, and cloud deployment
- Clear written communication — most of our work is asynchronous
Nice to have
- Prior experience in a regulated industry (financial services, healthcare, government)
- Familiarity with Cloudflare Workers, D1 or similar edge platforms
- Open-source contributions you can point to
